PHILIA. International Journal of Ancient Mediterranean Studies has been published under a hybrid publishing model since 2024, combining open access online publication with the production and sale of printed editions.
As of 2024, all content published in PHILIA is provided as Open Access and made freely available online through the journal’s official website (https://philiajournal.com/) without any financial barriers for readers or authors. This approach reflects the journal’s commitment to the widest possible dissemination of scientific knowledge and compliance with international Open Access standards.
Since 2024, PHILIA has provided immediate and free online access to all of its articles. Readers can access, download, share, and distribute the content without any subscription, registration, or payment requirements.
PHILIA does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APCs), submission fees, or publication fees at any stage of the editorial and publication process. Authors are not required to pay for the submission, peer-review, editing, or publication of their works.
Furthermore, all peer review processes, editorial evaluations, and publication preparations are carried out entirely on a voluntary, non-profit basis by an international team of scholars, peer reviewers, and editors. No fees are paid to referees or members of the editorial board, who contribute as part of an academic community dedicated to the advancement of science.
In addition to its Open Access online publishing model, PHILIA has also been published in print format by Phoibos Verlag (Vienna) since 2024. The printed volumes are available for purchase through Phoibos Verlag’s distribution channels, bookstores, and institutional partners. Detailed information regarding the availability and pricing of current print copies can be found at:
https://www.phoibos.at
For issues published prior to 2024, print copies can be obtained from Kabalcı Yayınevi (Istanbul), the journal’s former publisher, or from Phoibos Verlag (Vienna), depending on availability.
The respective publishing houses determine the printed editions' pricing per their production and distribution policies.
This hybrid publishing model enables PHILIA to offer unrestricted access to its scientific content online while also preserving the tradition and added value of high-quality printed academic publications.
