Les relevés de dépense des épistates et la fortification de Téos hellénistique

In 2021 a reused block with a short, complete inscription was discovered. It is part of a series of epistates expenditure records for the fortification of the Hellenistic city of Teos. The new text records as the “total cost of the construction of the tower” some 75487 drachmas, an exorbitant amount for Teos and out of all proportion to the costs attested elsewhere. However, compared with the price of stone construction at Didyma at the same time, the cost of the tower at Teos could be justified and would have been borne by the city at a time of prosperity around 200–150 BC. The study also leads us to reconsider the local standard coins and the Alexanders mentioned in other records in the series, and to re-edit three of them.
