Kilikier in der römischen Armee der Kaiserzeit

Der vorliegende Aufsatz untersucht den kilikischen und isaurischen Soldaten in allen römischen Einheiten im Prinzipat. Der Beitrag zur römischen Armee aus dem bergigen Gebiet Kleinasiens wird detailliert analysiert. Besonders wird der auffällige Anteil der Kilikier in bestimmten Abteilungen der Armee und die möglichen Gründe hierfür dargestellt. Im Anschluss werden die möglichen Wahrnehmungen der Topoi über die Völker Kilikiens, insbesondere aus der Perspektive der Kilikier und Isaurier diskutiert. Der Aufsatz bietet somit einen Blick auf das Berufsleben der einfachen Menschen des Taurusgebirges.
